Preparing For Your Engagement

Photos...

Northwest Wedding Photos offers bridal couples a
FREE engagement photo session when they schedule
their wedding day photography. In order to get the best
possible images during your engagement session, we
suggest the following:

Clothing Suggestions

Usually, solid colors are best. And, unless
the images are going to be more “formal”
in appearance — we suggest that “colors”
can be whatever colors of the rainbow you like.

White is very difficult to photograph in bright sunlight — so, think about if that is really the color you want in an engagement photo done outdoors in natural light.

There should be no company logos or slogans printed on the clothes that you will wear.

We suggest wearing long sleeves if possible.

Since most engagement photos are shot from the waist up — your choice of shoes will NOT be as important as making certain your blouse or sweater will enhance your appearance.

We often want to include the engagement ring in the photos — so you may not want to wear your watch or a lot of other jewelry that would distract from the importance of your ring.

During your session, we'll shoot two different changes of wardrobe if you desire. So, you may want to make one “scene” a little more formal, and the second scene a little more casual to your taste and style.

We encourage you to come dressed and ready to shoot in your first choice when you arrive on location. We will work efficiently so that we can complete this session in less than an hour if possible so you can get back to your regular activities.

Make-up Suggestions

A good foundation is essential. You'll want to bring it along in case you need a slight touch up as we shoot.

Do NOT wear dark colored or bright red nail polish. Clear or French style is best.

Do NOT use a lot of eyeliner. Since we'll be shooting outdoors, it is better to have
a more natural look. Do not use heavy eye shadow. Since we will be shooting outdoors in natural light — appropriate make up would be more like if you are going on a picnic instead of going out to
a nightclub.

Lipstick is appropriate … pink and reds are fine.

Posing Suggestions

We have a few basic poses that we like — but we encourage you to bring in any samples from magazines that you see that you might like — and we'll see if we can replicate them with you as the star!

We encourage you to relax … smile … just have fun. This is an opportunity for you to just be yourself. No pressure. We'll get some great shots, laugh a bit, and get to know each other.

We will have time to answer any questions you may have. This will be fun and we'll get you some great engagement photos!

We are looking forward to seeing you soon!

Cordially,
Dana and Nancy Kehr
